Stands for Lineas Aereas del Estado (I've probably missed some accents
off the e's). Fransua Dubua, who sent
me this gem, says that this carrier is owned and operated by the
Argentinian Airforce, does charter flights and serves isolated towns in
Patagonia. Its logo looks like an eagle carrying a bowling ball. Fransua
says the logo hasn't been changed since the airline was founded in 1947,
but it appears only on its offices and barfbags -- not on the planes
themselves. This plastic bag dates from 1994. The pilots and attendants
are airforce personnel, and the service is great, he says. (See all the
fascinating things you can learn by collecting barfbags?) Thanks, Fransua. (2001) |

Unimaginative bag from this carrier: All-capitals instructions in
Helvetica (or is it Arial?) typeface. Not even a logo: unless you count
the bag-maker's star logo concealed inside the gusset. Thanks to Steffen Heinrich.

From package-tourist-king Freddie Laker's empire. A
unique bagmaker concealed in the gusset: "SkyBag-3, Tel. Portsmouth
(U.K.) 818444, Telex 86646". Thanks to Roger Macrae. (2001) |

Nothing hidden in this one's gusset. Freddie must have thrown it
overboard. Thanks to Kevin Middleton. (2004) |
